The Black Carts are Arriving in Northeast Calgary
Northeast residents may notice a large black object sitting in their front yard. This delivery, compliments of the city waste program is the new black-cart disposal container.
Designed to replace the previous blue container that had to be dragged to the curb every week, these new and improved versions have easy-to-move wheels, extra large storage space that can hold three-four trash bags, and a lid that won't blow off in windy weather. The electric arm on the garbage truck makes for easy disposal and a much cleaner process.
Black carts are used for household waste only, not recycling and replace old cans or garbage bags, and is offered to homeowners at no charge. The service is being introduced to Northeast Calgary homes and should be in place in the other quadrants by spring.

As useful as these new units appear to be, some people are still complaining about them - saying they're big and bulky. It's going to be a lot easier on the drivers - too bad the program efficiency meant job loss though.
