Evanston Real Estate Information

Designed with a peaceful and friendly environment in mind, Evanston is a true treasure in the northwest. Thoughtful planning has made every aspect of this neighbourhood welcoming, from the large open lots to the beautiful green spaces that are in great abundance.

With the goal of being one of the most environmentally-friendly neighbourhoods in Calgary, Evanston is also known for more than just it’s dynamic homes.

While there are many estate homes in Evanston that attract big budgets, there are also laned homes, townhouses, single-family properties, and many other styles of dwellings available for buyers to choose from.

Accompanied by large lot sizes that enhance privacy, it’s easy to see why so many are attracted to this area and choose it instead of the many others in the northwest quadrant.

Known as the community that has it all, Evanston is bounded by Stoney Trail NW to the south, Symons Valley Rd NW to the west, Range Rd 14 to the east, and 144 Ave NW to the north.

There are incredible amenities in this part of the city, and the major access roads make it easy to travel to other areas without having to spend a lot of time on the road. However, the stunning beauty of the surroundings, as well as the extensive grasslands within the neighbourhood, make it easy to stay home. All of this has made Evanston feel more like a small town without residents having to sacrifice being far from what they need.

The price of real estate in Evanston varies greatly, with the median price of homes being around $450,000. For those who are on a more limited budget, there are lower prices that can be found, although it’s not common.

As of 2014, the population in the area had grown to nearly 10,030 residents who were living in 3,233 stunning homes. This was a significant increase from the previous year's population, proving that Evanston is more attractive than ever to buyers in this part of the city.

Evanston Amenities and Highlights

Evanston is a fantastic community because it's so close to a large number of amenities. This begins at the Creekside Shopping Plaza, which is located on the southwest side of the neighbourhood.

Featuring a co-op, coffee houses, fitness studios, restaurants, and many retail stores, residents never have to travel far to find everything they need. Country Hills Towne Center is another excellent place to shop, being only 10 minutes to the southeast. Other shopping areas that residents of Evanston can reach quickly include Beacon Hill, Beddington Town Centre, Deerfoot Outlet Mall, and Country Hills Village.

When it comes to education, Evanston has a lot of exciting changes to come. This includes a K-9 Catholic school that's set to complete in 2016 and a K-4 school that was recently approved for development. In the meantime, there are many schools in neighbouring communities that serve students of all ages.

For continuing education, the University of Calgary is only 20 minutes away and is right next to Foothills Medical Centre, McMahon Stadium, and Alberta Children's Hospital. As for religious services, Evanston has Connect Church and Symons Valley United Church both in close proximity.

Every day healthcare needs can be taken care of in the community at the pharmacy or several health offices that are located there. The surrounding communities also feature dental, chiropractic, and vision care offices. Evanston also proudly features a very involved community association which regularly hosts events and fun activities to connect residents in the area and enhance safety.

Evanston Recreation

Evanston is a community that puts a lot of emphasis on nature, offering pathways, creeks, and open green spaces all over. The ridge of the community also overlooks a gorgeous environmental reserve where visitors can take in the true beauty of the area and all that it offers.

A pathway system also surrounds this, offering residents a chance to walk, bike, or run without vehicle interference. There are also playgrounds and picnic facilities situated throughout the neighbourhood to further accommodate residents. With careful planning of the landscape, it’s easy to see why people spend so much time outdoors in Evanston.

Although there's quite a bit to do within the boundaries of this community, there's, even more, to do outside of it. This includes Nose Hill Park, which is only minutes away and offers tons of space for outdoor activities.

When the weather is not optimal, residents of Evanston can quickly reach Cardel Place recreation centre. This features hockey arenas, an aquatic facility, a public library, food facilities, and indoor spaces for sports. In addition to this, the Country Hills Golf Course is minutes to the south of the neighbourhood and is known as one of the best golf courses in the area.
