Calgary’s Oil & Gas Expo will be the Biggest Yet!

The 2013 Oil & Gas Expo is one of the most important events for the North American oil industry. Held on the biennial basis it takes places in Calgary, Alberta the home of the Canadian oil industry. And this year's Oil & Gas Expo is expected to be the largest yet with over 20,000 Oil & Gas professionals planning to attend.

Attendance at the Oil & Gas expo provides the chance for oil & gas professionals to network with their peers, educate themselves on the latest developments in the oil industry and gain exposure to new trends and opportunities.

Participants can also view live field technology and equipment in operation in the outdoor and indoor demonstration areas. In addition, the three free exhibitor presentation theatres show case studies, project updates and business development.

This year's Oil & Gas show will feature over 600 exhibits with companies from China, South Korea, Russia, India and the United Kingdom in attendance. Among the featured exhibitors, this year are Chevrolet, SFC Energy Inc., and Victrex USA Inc.

The expo will run from Tuesday, June 11th through to Thursday, June 13th and is being held at Stampede Park. This year sees the addition of a new hall for heavy oil and oil sands and the total exhibition will cover over 170,000 square feet of space.

Registration for the Oil & Gas Expo is currently open and attendees are recommended to make their travel and accommodation arrangements as soon as possible due to the popularity of the event. Also note that as this is a business event, children under the age of 16 cannot attend.

The ability to engage in international networking is one of the primary reasons for the popularity of the expo. The Oil & Gas expo offers unrivalled opportunities to connect with new clients and suppliers, to develop business relationships or simply to relax with your peers.

Networking events at the 2013 expo include the official industry party on June 12th, daily live welding demos, the exhibitor showcase theatres, and business opportunities presented by the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania.

In conjunction with the Oil & Gas expo, the SPE heavy oil conference is being held at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park. This conference includes top speakers from the Oil industry who will discuss the challenges companies face. Included among the topics will be a discussion of oil sands production and mining techniques, reservoir evaluation, improving recovery from mature fields and geomechanics in heavy oil fields.

The growing size and popularity of the Oil & Gas expo highlight the impact that the oil industry is having on the local Calgary economy. In particular, the oil industry has helped to underpin the Calgary real estate market which is outperforming the rest of the country.

April of 2013 saw sales of homes in Calgary jump 10.3% which was the largest increase of any major housing market in Canada. In addition, luxury sales prices sharply rose by 50% in Calgary during the first quarter, which considerably higher than any other major market. With the prospects for the Oil industry in Calgary only looking up, rising prices for real estate for sale in Calgary are expected.
