The growing size and popularity of the Oil & Gas expo highlights the impact that the oil industry is having on the local Calgary economy. In particular the oil industry has helped to underpin the Calgary real estate market which is outperforming the rest of the country. April of 2013 saw sales of homes in Calgary jump 10.3% which was the largest increase of any major housing market in Canada. In addition luxury sales prices sharply rose by 50% in Calgary during the first quarter, which considerably higher than any other major market. With the prospects for the Oil industry in Calgary only looking up, rising prices for real estate for sale in Calgary are expected.
