Capitol Hill Real Estate Information

Just north of 16 Avenue NW between 19th Street West and 10th Street West lies the community of Capitol Hill. It offers a premium location for its residents, being less than 5 kilometres away from the downtown area.

It's by far one of the most beautiful and convenient neighbourhoods in all of Calgary, with a history that began in 1948 when it was established. The development was well underway by the 1950s, with the housing consisting of mainly single-family dwellings, duplexes, apartments, and homes with converted basement suites.

Real Estate Market in Capitol Hill

Fast forward to today and there is still a small selection of 1950's bungalows out there, although many have been renovated into newer homes or destroyed to make way for condominiums and townhouses. This has led to the modern appeal of the community, which is complemented nicely by the stunning landscaping that surrounds it.

The beautiful trees and waters all around are part of the serenity that residents find here, especially with the sparkling waters of Confederation Park being in such close proximity.

With such an excellent location, natural beauty, and updated homes, Capitol Hill has turned into one of the most popular places to live in the city. It seems that homes sell just as fast as they are listed, especially those that are priced affordably. This is why buyers who are interested in living here have to move fast if they want to make their dream a reality. Fortunately for those who are lucky enough to own a home here, they have peace of mind knowing they’re making a quality investment.

Capitol Hill Amenities

Although Capitol Hill is a very walkable neighbourhood, it also has an LRT station that offers quick trips to the University of Calgary, SAIT, downtown shops, and ACAD. To accommodate shoppers, the North Hill Mall is also just minutes away via public transit or a vehicle.

Those who are more interested in sports will enjoy being in close proximity to McMahon Stadium, which is just a short trip to the west. 4 St NW is another nearby resource where residents find a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and shops.

There are two schools located in the community, including Capitol Hill Elementary and St. Pius Bilingual Elementary School. These are situated near the many places of worship in the community, including the Chinese Evangelical Free Church and St. Cyprian's Anglican Church. For those looking for health care services, the Foothills Medical Centre is located to the west next to the University.

Capitol Hill Recreation & Things to Do

Beautiful scenery is abundant on Capitol Hill with the stunning landscaping and mature trees, but views of the Rocky Mountains truly steal the show when they are visible during the day. Outside of these views, residents will find many walking paths throughout the neighbourhood, making it easy to go to stores, restaurants, and many other nearby communities on foot.

When it comes to parks, Nose Hill and Confederation are two of the most popular. Nose Hill Park, in particular, is one of the largest in all of Canada and offers stunning views of the city and river.

Confederation Park has a unique double-helix style metal sculpture that makes it a great place to stop for photos before enjoying the flowers, trees, grass, and rolling hillsides that make it the gem of Capitol Hill. Golf Enthusiasts are not out of luck, as they have the Confederation Park Golf Course on the northern border of the community.
