Cliff Bungalow Neighbourhood in City Centre Calgary
Cliff Bungalow-Mission is a community that has gone through a number of transformations over the years. Before Cliff Bungalow (previously named Broadway) and Mission were joined together in 1990, they were two separate neighbourhoods in the southwest quadrant of Calgary.
Mission, in particular, is the oldest, being founded in 1975 by Charles and Edward Rouleau, who named it "Rouleauville" after them. Cliff Bungalow was established a short time later in 1883 and was controlled by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Cliff Bungalow wasn't annexed by the city until 1906 when it was subdivided into residential communities. Mission followed when it was annexed a year later in 1907. Fast forward to today, and Cliff Bungalow-Mission is a community that has continued to grow. This is thanks, in part, to the thriving 4th Street Commercial District, but the excellent location cannot be overlooked.
This community slopes up Mount Royal and along 17th Avenue SW to offer residents incredible convenience without being in the hustle and bustle of the downtown area.
