Elbow Park Real Estate Information

Tucked away in the southwest quadrant of Calgary is the luxury community of Elbow Park. Due to its excellent location that's only minutes away from downtown and adjacent to the Elbow River, it's easy to see why so many want to live in this part of the city.

It's genuinely a pleasant place to live, with beautiful landscaping, quiet streets, and friendly neighbours throughout. What's even more special about this community is its rich history, which dates back to 1840. This is when groups of travellers used the land for "whiskey forts", which traded whiskey for furs.

This trading came to an end in 1875 with the introduction of the North West Mounted Police. In place of the whiskey forts went permanent buildings, many of which are still standing today.

The majority of the homes were built after Elbow park was annexed in 1907 and the majority of those are still around as well. This rich history is something that residents are proud of, which is why many have worked hard to maintain the historic homes that they live in. However, for those who enjoy more contemporary properties, there are many that have been recently built as well.

To make this community even better, Elbow Park recently implemented the Elbow Drive Urban Streetscape and Traffic Management Plan. This added in new curbs, additional lights on the streets, more sidewalks, and other improvements to make the neighbourhood safer, quieter, and more pedestrian friendly.
