Hillhurst Real Estate Information

Hillhurst is one of Calgary's oldest communities that can be found immediately north of the Bow River. Its roots date back to the 1880s when a man by the name of Felix McHugh established his homestead on the land.

Years later in 1904, a rancher named Ezra Riley purchased the land and then sold it to the city. In 1914 Hillhurst was officially established as a community, and the dirt roads were quickly turned into paved streets to welcome the growing population.

To further enhance the location, the Mewata Bridge was built over the Bow River in 1954. Directly connecting residents to downtown, this sky-rocketed the popularity of Hillhurst.
