Sherwood Real Estate Information

Sherwood is a northwest Calgary neighbourhood that's situated near the north edge of the city. It's bordered to the south by Stoney Trail NW, the east by Shaganappi Trail NW, the west by Sarcee Trail NW, and the north by Symons Valley Pkwy NW. With a unique old-world English countryside design, residents here enjoy beauty in both their immediate and scenic surroundings.

With features such as classic street lamps and stunning green meadows, stepping foot into the community feels just like stepping into a storybook. This is part of the draw of Sherwood as a whole and why it has continued to steadily grow since it was established in the early 2000’s.

The stunning architecture throughout the neighbourhood complements the landscape perfectly. Homeowners can choose between several architectural styles, including Craftsman/Arts and Crafts, Tudor, French Provincial, English Cottage, and French Country. Each of these is inspired by homes straight from the English countryside, although they are equipped with the modern amenities inside for comfortable living. Outside of the properties are large lot sizes to accommodate maximum privacy for each homeowner.

Buyers looking for homes for sale in Sherwood are able to find a wide variety of options, ranging from single-family homes to townhouses. However, multi-family homes have also been under development for those looking for a specific type of investment. Named the "New Community of the Year" in 2004, prices are on average $592,000, with prices ranging much higher and lower. With opportunities to build custom homes as well, buyers here can make their dream home a reality in Sherwood.

Sherwood Amenities and Highlights

Old world charm doesn't mean old world amenities, as Sherwood has some of the best shopping in this part of the city. This includes the Beacon Hill Centre, which includes many big box stores as well as several small businesses and convenience stores.

There are also restaurants sprinkled throughout the community for added convenience. For shopping outside of Sherwood, there are many options. This includes the nearby Sage Hill Crossing area that features hotels, a movie theatre, restaurants, and shopping. In addition to this, the Creekside Shopping Centre to the east features restaurants, bars, stores, and more.

Health care is in close proximity, with Alberta Children's Hospital and Foothills Medical Centre both being 18 minutes to the south. The University of Calgary is also in this same area, offering visitors higher education and a variety of sporting facilities.

For those who travel often, the Calgary International Airport is 20km to the east. There's shopping in this area as well, with the CrossIron Mills Outlets being minutes to the north and Deerfoot City being minutes to the south.

Although public transportation is growing in this area, Sherwood is a driver-friendly community. Fortunately, with Stoney Trail NW being in such close proximity, it's easy to get anywhere else in the city.

Downtown is just 20km to the southeast and a great destination for shopping or work. As for education, there are many schools planned for this community. However, until those are completed, residents are able to enjoy using the many schools that are located in the surrounding communities.

Sherwood Recreation

Although it's common for residents of Sherwood to spend time outdoors in their large lawns, there are many more recreation opportunities to choose from. This begins with walking and biking pathways that run throughout the community as well as those that surround it.

There are also parks and picnic spots for residents to enjoy the outdoors. In addition to this, the Hamptons Hills Golf Course and Nose Hill Park are just a few minutes away. Other recreational amenities nearby include Butterfield Acres, the Crowfoot Arena, and Cardel Centre. Cardel Centre, in particular, is an excellent resource that has indoor recreation for an escape from the weather outdoors.
