Established in 1992, this community has seen rapid growth in the years since. In fact, as of 2014, the population here was over 10,987 residents living in nearly 3,900 dwellings. However, even with this large population, Arbour Lake has remained a quiet and peaceful place to live.
As one of only a few lake communities in Calgary, Arbour Lake is the ideal place to live for anyone who loves the water and outdoor lifestyle. It features a man-made lake right in the centre where members of the community can enjoy all that space has to offer.
The natural surroundings only add to the beauty, with views of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Arbour Lake Amenities and Highlights
The introduction of the Ring Road in 2009 made it easy for residents of Arbour Lake to travel all over the city without spending a lot of time on the road. By connecting to the highway and Deerfoot Trail, the north side of the city can easily be visited. However, for those who would like to take advantage of what downtown or the south side of the city offers, the nearby Crowchild Trail is a great resource.
For residents who choose not to drive, the C-Train is available in the neighbourhood and can take them anywhere they need to go all over the city.
The southeast side of the community is one of the best spots for all types of amenities. There are fast food restaurants, coffee shops (including Tim Hortons), a gas station, a theatre, pet stores, car washes, and many other local businesses.
The retail area stretches all the way from Crowchild Trail NW to John Laurie Blvd NW, meaning there's lots of space to walk around and park. In fact, this area has so much to offer that it attracts visitors from other neighbourhoods, adding to the excitement in the shopping district on the weekends.
Also situated throughout the community are grocery and convenience stores to make running errands throughout the week a breeze. There are also several fast food and fine dining restaurants sprinkled all around, offering residents endless varieties of cuisine.

Arbour Lake Recreation & Things to Do
The biggest recreational gem of Arbour Lake is the 10-acre lake itself! It provides ample space to swim during the summer and is used during the winter as a skate facility as well.
The community centre is responsible for maintaining the lake and helping to keep residents active. It does this by offering a wide array of classes, such as swimming, canoeing, fishing derbies, skate parties, and kite-flying days. It's also worth mentioning that next to the lake there is a massive 4,000 square foot pavilion that can be used for a number of activities all throughout the year.
East of the lake is the spacious Crowfood Park, which features open meadows, soccer goals, and shaded areas for outdoor picnics. Also located in this area is the community's YMCA, which hosts activities for residents each week of the year. To connect these areas with the other parks and playgrounds in Arbour Lake there are pathways that residents can use for street-free travel.
For those looking for an activity outside of the community, the Rocky Mountains are less than an hour's drive away. A little bit closer is Nose Hill Park, which is roughly 10km east via John Laurie Blvd NW. When it comes to golf, the Bearspaw Country Club and XFactor Indoor Golf are some of the closest options located to the northwest.
