The number of properties in Citadel has seen steady growth each year, and as of 2012 had reached nearly 3,500 in total. This consists of a nice mix of homes, including single-family dwellings, low-rise condos, and updated townhouses as well.

There are several schools that serve this community, including Citadel Park Elementary, St. Brigid Catholic, and Arbour Lake School. Higher education students aren't far from the University of Calgary Spy Hill Campus, which is just 4km to the north.

Healthcare is also in close proximity to Foothills Medical Centre and Alberta Children's Hospital both being less than 20 minutes to the southeast. The main campus for the University of Calgary is also in this area, along with McMahon Stadium and several other sports centres.


Citadel Recreation

Citadel has several parks for residents to take advantage of, beginning with the smaller Citadel Gate Park. This back into homes throughout the neighbourhood is lined with mature trees and has a beautiful gazebo in the centre.

Citadel Park is adjacent to this and surrounds the Citadel Park School. Pathways wind throughout this park just as they do the rest of the community and there is a playground with new equipment for children to enjoy.

Located just west of these parks is another green space that's packed with amenities such as baseball diamonds, a playground, an outdoor hockey rink, basketball courts, a tennis court, pathways, and open meadows.

Outside of the parks within the community, Citadel residents have quick access to the beautiful Hamptons Golf Course as well as Bearspaw Country Club.

Also nearby in the neighbouring community of Arbour Lake is a lake for swimming and beach activities during the summer. Right next door to this is Crowfoot Park, offering residents of Citadel, even more, recreation space without having to travel far away from home.

For those looking to explore the Bow River, it's only 8km to the south and bordered by Baker Park and Bowmont Park.

Last but not least, the stunning nose hill park is a short drive away (less than 20 minutes) for anyone who wants to enjoy the hiking or wildlife that it has to offer.

The Calgary Winter Club is also located here and offers excellent indoor recreation facilities for over 20 different sports and activities.
