Soon after the well-designed streets were developed, single-family homes with beautiful views of the rocky mountains and city were being constructed in Hawkwood.

Residents of Hawkwood have a number of amenities right outside of their front doors. This includes local restaurants, a post office, boutique clothing, a gas station and more.
There is also public transit stops situated all throughout the neighbourhood, making it incredibly easy for residents who don't drive to get around the neighbourhood or even to other areas of the city.
For buyers who want to be near great schools, this neighbourhood is served by many. This includes Hawkwood Elementary, St. Maria Goretti Elementary, F.E. Osborne Junior High, and Robert Thirsk High.
There are many amenities in close proximity to the neighbourhood as well, including at the Crowfoot Crossing Centre that's a short 3-minute drive away.
This area features a cinema, 200 stores, gas station, restaurants, bars, and more. There's also a grocery store and pizza restaurant located immediately northeast of the community along Country Hills Blvd NW and Sarcee Trail NW. Shopping can also be found along Stoney Trail NW, with a number of big-box stores and retail chains calling this area home.
There are a couple of churches in the neighbourhood, including St. Thomas United Church on 100 Hawkwood Blvd NW and Hawkwood Baptist Church on Hawkwood Dr. NW. For those looking to be near a library, the Crowfoot Library is situated immediately west of the community on the opposite side of Nose Hill Dr. NW. For those who need to reach downtown, it's roughly 20 minutes away via the highway that's in close proximity.
There are many activities to choose from in Hawkwood and the surrounding areas, beginning with the community association. This regularly hosts activities for people of all ages, including baseball, soccer, yoga, and Boy Scouts.
This community has many parks located throughout it, including Hawkcliff Park, a large field in the centre of the community, and meadows in the south. There are also several playgrounds for tots as well as ball fields, soccer fields, and other sporting areas.
When it comes to nearby recreation amenities, the YMCA that's immediately west of the community has excellent sporting facilities for all types of activities. This is located right next to Arbour Lake where visitors can swim during the summer or skate during the winter.
While there are many more parks and facilities in neighbouring communities, the Bow River is one of the most popular nearby treasures. Just 6.4km to the south, This is home to pathways, beautiful parks, and many exercise trails.
Nose Hill Park is in close proximity, being roughly 15 minutes to the west with tons of space for picnics, running, hiking, and more.
