Montgomery Real Estate Information

Originally known by the name Shouldice Terrace, Montgomery had its name changed after WWII. Around this time there were only 600 homes situated in the community, but most were not equipped with modern conveniences such as sewer or water.

As the community continued to grow and the voice of the people came alive, the City of Calgary finally listened and annexed the community in 1963. By then there were over 5,000 residents who lived in Montgomery, making this an easy decision for the city due to the fact there was finally a tax base that would support municipal and educational services.

Today, some of these homes that are for sale in Montgomery still date back to the pre-war era while others are newer or have been refurbished to look more modern. While the majority of properties are single-family homes, there are also condominiums, townhouses, and apartments in the mix as well.

What’s even better for buyers here is the fact that most of the land lies on the southern slope of the Bow River Valley. In turn, this has created diverse topography with stunning views of the river and surrounding mountains. And because homes are moderately priced, there are opportunities to get into this community for as low as $300,000. However, for those who have larger budgets, there are many luxury homes that are sure to please the discerning home buyer.
