As residents flooded into the area the demand for homes increased, eventually rising to nearly 2,989 homes in 2014. The population around this time was over 8,182 residents.

Rocky Ridge Amenities and Highlights

Within Rocky Ridge, there are countless amenities throughout, including a grocery store, gas station, sandwich shop, clothing store, and financial services.

For those who are looking for more shopping opportunities, Crowfoot Crossing is in close proximity, being just a 10-minute drive to the east. Market Mall, which has a number of stores and local restaurants, is also nearby being less than 15km to the east.

For all other shopping, Crowchild Trail NW that borders the south side of the community can connect residents to all other areas of the city, including downtown.

Another excellent resource is the Royal Oak Shopping Centre that's minutes to the northeast of Rocky Ridge. This is situated next to the University of Calgary Spy Hill Campus for higher education students. Residents who need elementary and high school education can find it in neighbouring communities including Royal Oak.

For healthcare, residents don't have to travel far, as the Rockford Medical Clinic is situated on the east side of the community on Rocky Ridge Rd NW. There's also a vet for animal care on the west side of the neighbourhood.

The North West Family Church is located on the southern tip of Rocky Ridge and there are several alternative churches next door in Royal Oak. For those who are looking to do something different, they can follow Rocky Ridge Rd NW just a few minutes north to find the Butterfield Acres Petting Farm. In addition to this, there is a very active community association in Rocky Ridge that regularly hosts fun events and activities for residents of all ages.

Rocky Ridge Recreation

Set against a backdrop of green meadows and pathways, Rocky Ridge is packed full of recreation options for residents. This includes several small parks sprinkled throughout the community, some of which are equipped with playgrounds, ball fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds.

The wetlands in the community are also spots for recreation where residents can enjoy the natural beauty that not many other neighbourhoods in the city offer. Residents here also have access to the Ranch Centre, which overlooks a lake and has playgrounds, recreation facilities, a tennis court, and ample outdoor space.

Golf is also in close proximity for those who live here, with the Bearspaw Country Club touching the northwestern tip of the community. Another close by recreation amenities is the Bow River Valley, which is minutes south of the neighbourhood just north of Valley Ridge. Valley Ridge is also home to a large golf course that’s a great alternative to Bearspaw.
