From this community, residents have gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains as well as the green meadows in the neighbouring community of Strathcona Heights. Making it all the more attractive is the fact that this neighbourhood is safe, clean, and has been very well-designed.

As of 2014, the population of this community was estimated to be slightly over 6,486, which was a small increase from the previous year. An estimated 14% of these residents were immigrants with half of the population being low-income.

The large presence of immigrants adds to the charm of the area, with a strong cultural mix that isn’t found in most other neighbourhoods. With around 2,852 dwellings here total, there are ample opportunities for buyers with all budgets to find properties within their budgets.

When it comes to the type of real estate in Glamorgan, there's a mix of different types of dwellings. These properties include single-family homes, condominiums, and townhouses. Many of these are starter homes while there are a number of luxury properties situated throughout the neighbourhood as well. A large number of the older homes have been renovated as well, paving way for an overall more vibrant look in the community.


Glamorgan Amenities and Recreation

Glamorgan is situated next to some of the best shopping in Calgary at the Westhills Shopping Centre. Located immediately west of Sarcee Trail SW, This features a large number of retail stores, a cinema, a grocery store, and many other shops.

Just north of this residents will find more shopping at the Real Canadian Superstore and Winners. There are also a number of small businesses situated along Richmond Rd SW (north of Glamorgan) for added convenience for residents.

Within the community itself, there are restaurants, sports bars, bakeries, coffee houses, banks, pharmacies, and many other small businesses that residents can easily walk to.

What's even better is the fact that there is bus stops all long 50 St SW that cuts through the west side of Glamorgan, making it easy to get anywhere in or around the community without having to drive. Further enhancing this community is the fact that there are many religious facilities, including St. Stephen's Byzantine that's located at 45 St SW.

This neighbourhood is served by Glamorgan Elementary and St. Andrew Elementary. There are many other private and public schools located nearby and Mount Royal University is immediate to the east.

When it comes to healthcare, Glamorgan Care Centre is located on the south side of the community on Galbraith Dr. SW. Richmond Square Medical Centre is also located immediately north of the community in the shopping area along 51 St SW.

For entertainment, residents in Glamorgan have a lot to choose from. This begins with both the Leacock Concert Hall and Bella Concert Hall, both of which are in the community of Lincoln Park to the east.

Another excellent option is the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino that's immediately south on the other side of Glenmore Trail SW. Downtown Calgary is another spot for great entertainment and is only around 9km away.


Glamorgan Recreation & Things to Do

The recreation facilities located within Glamorgan are some of the best resources for residents to take advantage of. They have skating rinks, sports fields, basketball nets, and plenty of open space.

Glamorgan Park, in particular, is a great place for all types of sports, as it is surrounded by mature trees and has large fields of open space. There's also a playground with updated equipment within this park. Grafton Park is another great outdoor space on 41 Ave SW, which is equipped with a playground and situated right next to the community skating rink.

For recreation outside of the community, the land to the south of this community is a treasure. This is where visitors can find endless pathways for exercise, mountain biking paths, hiking trails, and the beautiful Elbow River. One popular area, in particular, is the Weaselhead Natural Area, which is situated next to the river and North Glenmore Park.

In addition to all of this, the community association hosts activities and events for residents to take part in all throughout the year. This can keep people of all ages active and engaged with the rest of the community.
