In the early 1900's North Glenmore Park was simply utilized as a piece of land, as it was the site of a sandstone quarry that was used to build schools and other buildings throughout the city. Years later when WWII occurred, the dam in the area, which was located on the east side next to the Glenmore Reservoir, was closed and guarded in the event of an attack. Once the land was deemed as safe, it was annexed to the city in 1956.

North Glenmore Park Real Estate Information

In 1994 the population had grown to over 2,500, which consisted of a mix of residents of all ages. As of 2014, the population had remained steady with only a small decline, with approximately 2,380 residents according to the municipal census.

The number of dwellings has also remained strong, with over 955 that consist of mainly single-family homes. However, there is a small percentage of condominiums and apartments, although they only make up about 16% of the housing.

There are a number of shopping centres situated all around this neighbourhood as well. This includes the West Hills Shopping Centre that's 6km to the west and Chinook Centre that's 4.8km to the east. When it comes to entertainment, the neighbouring community of Lincoln Park houses the Leacock Concert Hall, Bella Concert Hall, and Mount Royal University. The Rockyview Hospital is another important resource in close proximity, being 8.6km to the north.


North Glenmore Park Recreation

The eastern borders of North Glenmore Park include both Glenmore Athletic Park and Lakeview Golf Course, meaning that residents are just steps away from ample outdoor space for all types of activities throughout the year.

Just adjacent to the neighbourhood is the actual North Glenmore Park, which has tennis courts, the Calgary Canoe Club, and a pathway that overlooks the Elbow River. Across the river from this to the east is the Heritage Park Historical Village, which acts as both a natural park and educational resource. It's minutes away from residents in the community, making it a popular spot to visit.

The community association here plays a major role in the neighbourhood overall. Throughout the year it hosts yoga classes, athletic activities, dance sessions, and many other fun activities for people to get involved with.
