Signal Hill Real Estate Information

By the time 2014 came around there were over 5,159 dwellings, with a nice mix of single-family properties, townhouses, detached homes, and low-rise condos are usually listed for sale in Signal Hill. These high-end high end properties to those that are more budget-friendly, making this location ideal for a wide variety of buyers.

The average cost of homes in Signal Hill is around $580,00, with options that are priced much lower and higher (including a selection listed at over $1 million). Most properties have beautiful landscapes and large lot sizes to enhance privacy.

There’s also a large selection of properties that have views of the Elbow River Valley and mountains, as they have been built on an elevated plateau that stretches west for 7km. The styles of these range from classic to contemporary, with many achieving high-end appearances due to updates and upscale characteristics.

Over time the beautiful look of the properties here along with the relatively higher price point has turned Signal Hill a wealthier community. The average household income is over $205,000 and the population is made up of nearly 14,000 residents.

The Upper Signal hill area in particular (which is on top of the hill of this neighbourhood) is one of the wealthiest areas, with residents having an income of $200,000 to $400,000. These are aptly located next to the infamous Signal Hill numbers, which are made up of four geoglyphs created from 16,000 whitewash stones. These numbers are based on Canadian Armed Forces regiments who trained in this area during the First World War.


Signal Hill Calgary Amenities and Recreation

Being known as a friendly community isn't the only major draw for Calgarians who are looking to move to Signal Hill. The location is another advantage, being bordered by 17 Ave SW to the north, 69 St SW to the west, Sarcee Trail SW to the east, and Glenmore Trail SW to the south.

This makes it easy for residents to travel to the downtown core as well as nearby communities. Glenbrook to the east and Springbank Hill to the west are two neighbourhoods in particular that can be reached in minutes and offer incredible amenities as well.

With this neighbourhood, in particular, there are countless things for residents to do. This begins with the massive Westhills Shopping Centre on the south side of the community next to Sarcee Trail SW. Shops here include bookstores, Best Buy, Lowe's Home Improvement, Guess, children’s clothing, and many other stores.

There are many places to eat throughout the community as well, including Phoenix Grill, Subway, and Misato Sushi on the north side. For those who want more options, there are plenty more restaurants, including fine dining and casual dining, in the nearby communities.

Signal Hill is served by the Battalion Park School, which is situated on Sienna Park Dr. SW near the west side of the centre of the neighbourhood. Several more schools are situated to the east in the community of Glenbrook.

Ambrose University is also west of the community towards the northern border, offering educational opportunities to older students. When it comes to health care, the Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre is a short 13-minute drive to the west via Richmond Rd SW. There are also two veterinary offices nearby, including the Killarney Cat Hospital.


Signal Hill Recreation & Things to Do in The Area

One of the best recreational spots to visit in Signal Hill is Battalion Park. Located on the hillside, this offers stunning views of the Sarcee Nation and mountains in the distance. However, it's also home to the historic white numbers that are infamous to residents of Calgary. These numbers represent battalions (137 for Calgary, 113 for Lethbridge, 51 for Edmonton, and 151 for Red Deer) and are regularly maintained by volunteers. Outside of this beautiful park residents can continue walking on the pathways that wind through the community,

For those looking to play a ball game or play many other sports, Optimist Athletic Park is located to the east of the community just on the other side of Sarcee Trail SW.

Looking for a game of golf? Residents are just 7.8km from Shaganappi Golf Course, which is situated just south of the beautiful Bow River and Bow River Pathway. For something a little different, the beautiful grounds of the Weaselhead Natural Area is less than 30 minutes to the south via Glenmore Trail SW.
