West Springs Real Estate Information

The Paskapoo Slopes were an important part of the area's history, as some parts of the slopes are designated as Precontact Native Archaeological Sites. A few years after that was completed, in the year 2001, West Springs became an officially established community.

Development of the area took off soon after establishment, with all properties being single-family detached dwellings. It's no secret that most of these homes have upscale designs with large lot sizes and stunning landscaping. This is part of what draws buyers into the area, along with the beautiful views it has of Edworthy Park, the mountains, and the city.

The community also has options for buyers who are looking for the best luxury real estate in the area. This can be found in the area of Wentworth, which is contained within West Springs.

Wentworth is made up of five areas: Wentworth Wentworth Estates, Wexford Estate, Wentworth Glen, and The Willows of Wentworth. While a couple of these are still under development, most of the other units have finished completion.

Home to under 1,000 people, this area is one of the most exclusive in Calgary. Surrounded by natural vegetation that's beautifully landscaped, the homes here are sights to be seen. They have been designed with luxurious architecture and characteristics that are only found on high-end properties.

Being a friendly community with gorgeous homes and a small estate area within, West Springs is an excellent place to live. The new introduction of townhomes and condos have only made it more appealing, as it has something to offer buyers with all budgets.

For those who want to live in a coveted area, nothing beats this community and the incredible amenities it provides to homeowners.

West Springs Amenities and Highlights

Bounded by Old Banff Coach Road to the north, 69 St W to the east, and Bow Trail to the south, it’s easy for residents here to get to anywhere in the city. While most who live here prefer to drive, there is a convenient transportation system available as well.

While there are a lot of things to do outside the community, within its borders is just as much excitement. This includes a few markets, a gym, a hair salon, ice cream shops, bridal stores, and cafés.

West Springs is also home to a few local restaurants that are easily walkable for residents who live here.

Some of the best places to shop nearby include West Market Mall, Strathcona Square, West Brook, and West Hills. These all feature a variety of retail options, including boutiques, banks, clothing stores, and restaurants.

For health services, Alberta Children's Hospital and Foothills Medical Centre are just about 20 minutes to the north. Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre is about the same drive away, although it's located to the east in the downtown area.

When it comes to education, this community is served by West Springs Elementary (which was opened in 2010), Calgary Waldorf, West Springs School, Webber Academy, and Calgary French and International School.

For higher education, the University of Calgary is situated to the northeast and Ambrose University is only minutes to the south. For religious services, St. Michael Catholic Community is located off of 85 St SW and New Apostolic Church is just on the north end near 73 St SW.

West Springs Recreation

West Springs has a beautiful balance of housing and green spaces so residents here can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors all year round. In fact, 30% of the area of Wentworth is made up of environmental reserves that most other communities in the area highly desired.

Just a walk through the neighbourhood can feel like a walk in the park thanks to the flowers and beautiful landscaping, but there are many parks sprinkled throughout the area as well.

There are also ponds, soccer fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds in the area (especially close to Wentworth) where visitors can enjoy the peace and quiet of the community.

The community association here, which also serves Cougar Ridge, is incredibly active and regularly hosts activities for residents. This means football and soccer during the summer, skating during the winter, and many more programs for people of all ages.

Taking a look outside of this neighbourhood residents will find the Westside Recreational Centre and Canada Olympic Park. Both are excellent resources for activities all throughout the year, as they have indoor facilities for sports.

To top it all off, West Springs has a number of pathways leading to the surrounding areas to accommodate anyone who enjoys being outdoors.
