Eau Claire in City Centre Calgary

Eau Claire, Calgary has a location that's hard to beat. It's immediately north of Downtown Calgary with 3 Ave SW to the south, the Bow River to the west/north, and 2 St SW to the east. This area was first used as industrial land due to its close proximity to the Bow River and fallen timber that was naturally found in that environment. In fact, it was actually named after the Eau Claire Lumber Company that was once one of the major businesses in the area. However, once Downtown Calgary began expanding and changing, Eau Claire eventually adapted.


Condos in Eau Claire

Today this community is home to mostly mid-rise condos and townhouses where residents can enjoy being in close proximity to all that this area has to offer. The real estate in Eau Claire is largely luxury, with most homes featuring views of downtown or the beautiful Bow River. Many of these feature modern architecture and amenities that any buyer could want today. This combined with the fact that it's located on the largest network of pedestrian pathways and trails in the city make it all that much more appealing to real estate buyers today.

Being the largest urban park on an island in the Bow River, it's spacious enough to handle events such as the Calgary Folk Music Festival, Shakespeare in the Park, and Carifest. Public transit can also take residents to nearby communities and downtown Calgary for shopping, work, and more entertainment.

When it comes to schools, there are several educational facilities in the surrounding communities that serve children of Eau Claire. This includes Sacred Heart for elementary school children, William Reid for bilingual programs, Mount Royal for junior high school students, and Western Canada for high school students. There are many health care offices within close proximity to the community, including Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre, Sante Medical, and Mount Royal Medicentre.


Eau Claire Recreation

Eau Claire Park is a wonderful spot to spend an afternoon, featuring ample outdoor space and views of the Bow River. However, West Eau Claire Park is currently under redevelopment to further enhance the space for visitors. Once finished, this will feature river lookouts, a sculpture garden, river decks, a promenade, a lagoon boardwalk, a community garden, and much more. Right next door to this park is the ever popular Prince Island Park. While popular for festivals, it's also a great spot for picnicking, trails, and other outdoor activities. Next to this is the smaller Sien Lok Park, which features sculptures that reflect the heritage of Chinese Canadians.
