Rutland Park Real Estate Information

First known as Sarcee Park, Rutland Park is a southwest Calgary community that wasn’t given its official name until the 1980s. Its history began well before that, as it was first annexed to the city in 1910. Development did not begin until 1952, but as soon as it did, the popularity of the area took off.

Residents were drawn to the location specified, which offers easy access to a large number of amenities. However, the recreational space surrounding the neighbourhood has not been overlooked and is one of the most welcoming features of the area today.

Most people who move here stay here for quite some time because of the diversity, friendly atmosphere, and safety that the neighbourhood provides. The location is also a perk, with Richmond Rd SW bordering the north, 37 St SW bordering the west, Sarcee Rd bordering the east, and Richardson Way SW bordering the south.

With new infills under construction all the time, Rutland Park is sure to remain a promising place to purchase real estate, especially with the affordable prices that can be found.

Rutland Park Amenities and Highlights

Although the closure of the CFB Calgary brought uncertainty in 1998, it actually stimulated the economy with businesses setting up shop in the area that was once military grounds. Some of these have been temporary such as Farmers' Markets and shows, but they still provide entertainment and retail options that are easily accessed by residents of Rutland Park.

For those who are looking for convenience stores, gas stations, cafes, or restaurants, they can find just what they need at the southern tip of the community, virtually eliminating the need to drive just to run errands.

When it comes to education, Rutland Park is known for providing its residents many options. This is largely due to the fact that it is located right next to the Lincoln Park Campus of Mount Royal College. However, this neighbourhood is also served by Sir James Lougheed School.

When it comes to medical care, many options are in close proximity as well. This includes the Carewest Innovative Health Care Centre on the east side of the community, a retirement residence and Carewest Royal Park on Sarcee Rd, and several dental and chiropractic offices nearby.

For those who are interested in music, the Leacock Concert Hall and Bella Concert Hall are both situated a couple of minutes away from Rutland Park in the community of Lincoln Park. Another exciting option nearby is the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, which is only 3.2 km to the south.

Access from downtown is also easy from this community, as it's only 7.8 km away. Although many residents here drive, public transit is a breeze with the many bus stops that are situated throughout the neighbourhood.

Things to Do in Rutland Park

The Richmond Green Golf Course is one of the community's most treasured areas. Located just steps away from the northern border of Rutland Park, this course is situated right next to a huge park with lots of open outdoor space.

However, for those looking for outdoor space in the neighbourhood itself, there's a large park area right in the centre of the community. This features mature trees, lots of green grass, and pathways for all types of exercise.

Minutes away from this neighbourhood residents will find the Southland Regional Park and Optimist Athletic Park. However, they don't need to travel to these places to find activities to do.

The community itself has a very active organization that offers facilities such as an outdoor skating rink, hockey rink, soccer fields, and ball diamonds for something new to do all throughout the year. The association also hosts activities and events that are fun for people of all ages.
