The University of Calgary is also just 9.0 km to the northeast via Crowchild Trail NW. As for religious facilities, the community is home to several excellent churches, including: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, St. Peter's Roman Catholic, and Hillside Community Church.
Although most of the residents here do choose to drive, public transit is incredibly convenient as well. Silver Springs in particular has stops all over the community, especially along Silver Springs Rd NW. However, for those who do drive, Nose Hill Dr. NW and Crowchild Trail can take them all over the rest of the city with ease.
Silver Springs Recreation
There is plenty of recreation for residents of Silver Springs to enjoy, beginning with The Ravine. Another name for the Bowmont Natural Area, this creates the southern border of the community. This is where most residents spend their evenings, weekends, and days when the weather is nice. There are walkways, picnic areas, biking trails, and open meadows for all types of sports. The Bow River also runs through the south side of The Ravine, offering a nice water feature that's surrounded by the Bow River Pathway.
Another treasure of the community is the sprawling Silver Springs Golf & Country Club, which is immediately east of the neighbourhood and part of a much larger park area. Other parks in the community include Sarcee Park, Bowmont Park, and Silvercreek Park. Each of these have unique characteristics, including a ball field, basketball court, tennis courts, and playgrounds. There's also a community skating rink in the centre of the neighbourhood where residents can skate all year round.
Last but not least, Nose Hill Park is another nearby gem that residents can arrive to in roughly 15 minutes or less. It's home to unique wildlife, hiking paths, bike paths, picnic areas, and open spaces for outdoor sports. The Winter Club is also located here and is a large facility with a gym, bowling alley, climbing wall, badminton court, swimming pool, skating rink, and much more. This is a popular facility for recreation in the winter when there's not much to do outdoors.
